Tips and Tricks for Painting your home from Village Professional Painters in Lewisville

Getting ready to paint your home? Good for you! Painting rooms in your home can create different “vibes” and emotions throughout your house. Light colors can create a more soothing and relaxing feeling, while darker colors can be conducive to getting some serious work done.

Before you begin to paint, it’s important that you jump the gun and knock out some easy things first. It’ll make your experience much easier and will actually improve the quality of experience that a new color of paint will deliver.

First off, clean the walls with a damp cloth to eliminate dust and any grime that could have accumulated over the years. If along the way you find some holes and imperfections on your wall, don’t hesitate to grab some spackle and lightly spackle as a filing.

If you’ve used a dark color paint beforehand, then primer is crucial to a good paint job. Primer can help hide wall imperfections and can be a huge help in masking dark colors.

Then, gather all of your materials. You’ll need good (not necessarily high) quality paint brushes, roller covers and extensions and some handy dandy painters tape. The reason better quality tools are needed is because you can visibly see the difference after the paint has set. If you decide to go cheaper on a brush, you’ll see visible “fuzzies” along the wall and inside the paint that can make things look messy and untrimmed.

What tools or tips have you used before painting your home or space that have made your experiences much easier? Use them or lose them - and learn as you go, it's your space!
