Does your Home need a Tune- Up?

Does your home need a tune up? A quick paint job with a new color scheme can breathe new life into a home that might need one. But with so many options for colors, textures and designs, it can seem very overwhelming to choose. Here’s a quick brush up on some things to consider before painting your home.

1. Just a dab
A small dab of paint will help you to identify whether or not the paint reflects the color you chose. Some paints dry darker than they appear when wet, so a little dab will keep you from having to repaint your entire home… twice!

2. Lighting matters
Dark paints in a dark room… don’t do it. Natural daylight reveals the true, intended color of paints and can be a necessity. If you want a strong and boastful color, pair it next to some natural lighting to dim it’s tone and make it a complete accent.

3. Terminology
There’s a couple phrases that can help you when painting your home. Hue refers to the color and it’s value refers to how light or dark that hue is. Saturation is used to describe how dominant the hue is. For example, a saturated red hue is red while the less saturated red hue will be pink.

4. Color wheelin’
The color wheel is a great tool used to find complementary colors. They illustrated what color pairs will best match up with one another and can function beautifully when used in a room together.

What tips do you have when painting your home?
